A MECCA FOR SHOPPERS AND CULTURE LOVERS

Hong Kong is definitely the stop-over destination for dedicated shoppers. In fact, if you love markets, and Chinese/colonial culture you may well want to consider an extended stopover here; there is so much to see and do.

You can shop in Nathan Street’s Golden Mile, the Night Market on Temple Street, the Bird Market or the famous Stanley Market. And when you’re shopped out you can go cruising. Take a ferry over to one of the islands - like Cheung Chau or Lantau - sail past the junks in Aberdeen aboard a traditional sampan, or ride to the heights of Victoria Peak aboard a vertiginous tram. You could take any number of cultural and heritage-based tours, and dine on some of the best Chinese food to be found anywhere on the planet. Or take a fast, 60 minute jetfoil over to the former Portuguese colony of Macau – now part of the People’s Republic of China.
